Qualcuno pensava che questa “guerra” fosse in qualche modo giustificabile perchè contro i terroristi di Hamas, ora cominciano a squarciarsi le nubi e su il quotidiano israeliano “Haaretz”, vengono publicati i racconti dei soldati che occuparono “Gaza”, sono raccapriccianti, si leggono con difficoltà…

Dix jours après le début de l’opération “Plomb durci”, la bande de Gaza est plus que jamais coupée du monde. Alors que les troupes israéliennes sont entrées samedi soir dans le territoire contrôlé par le Hamas, la zone est toujours interdite aux journalistes, officiellement pour raisons de sécurité. Mais en dépit des bombardements, des coupures d’électricité et de l’absence de réseau de téléphonie mobile, les blogueurs palestiniens continuent de raconter leur quotidien dans un territoire en état de siège.

Sur le blog Moments of Gaza, le professeur Saïd Abdelwahed, qui enseigne l’anglais à l’université Al-Azhar, a trouvé le temps d’écrire quelques lignes juste avant que ne débute l’offensive terrestre. “Je n’ai que quelques minutes pour écrire. Neuf avions F16 ont frappé les cibles à Gaza. (…) Il y a quelques minutes, onze hommes en prière ont été tués durant le bombardement de mosquées à Beit Lahia, durant la prière du coucher du soleil. (…) Pas d’électricité, pas d’eau, il n’y a plus aucune vie dans la ville. (…) Les téléphones portables ne marchent plus, les lignes fixes de téléphone peuvent à peine fonctionner. Gaza est une ville fantôme. L’offensive terrestre est en cours.” Il reprend la plume, dès le lendemain, pour décrire le ballet des drônes et des hélicoptères dans le ciel de Gaza, avant d’être interrompu : “Oooouups. A l’instant, la terre tremble sous nos pieds. Boooouuum !”

PÉNURIE

Quand les bombardements quotidiens ne les maintiennent pas confinés chez eux, les Gazaouites sont confrontés à la pénurie qui touche tous les biens de première nécessité. Sur Fromgaza, un réalisateur, Mohammed Fares El Majdalawi, raconte le parcours du combattant de ses compatriotes pour trouver leur pain quotidien. “Dans ma maison, nous n’avons pas accès au strict nécessaire, que ce soit de la nourriture, le gaz ou même le pain. Hier, mon père est allé à la boulangerie à 5 heures du matin et a attendu cinq heures pour avoir un sac de pain. Ce n’est pas suffisant pour ma famille, parce que nous sommes onze. Aujourd’hui, je me suis donc rendu dans toutes les boulangeries. Je n’ai pas trouvé un seul pain : tout était fermé…”
Sur le site In Gaza, une militante canadienne vivant à Gaza décrit un paysage d’apocalypse et rend compte de l’effroi des équipes médicales confrontées à l’horreur des bombardements : “Ce qui me frappe maintenant, plus que les cadavres brûlés et démembrés que j’ai vus il y a deux nuits, plus que l’intensité des missiles autour de nous la nuit dernière (…), c’est la panique sur les visages. Panique en s’enfuyant, panique en essayant d’arrêter une ambulance dans la rue pour les blessés, les morts, panique même chez les ambulanciers et les équipes médicales. Ils ont vu beaucoup de choses, beaucoup d’entre eux font ce travail depuis dix ans ou plus, mais c’est pire, bien pire que tout ce qu’ils ont déjà vu, ou imaginé.” Elle rapporte les propos d’un médecin palestinien effaré par la violence de cette attaque qu’il qualifie de “massacre” : “Ils ne connaissent plus aucune limite désormais. Ils sont en train de devenir fous.”
“ROBO-CALLING”
Le site d’information Electronic Intifada, qui héberge plusieurs blogs, raconte comment Israël tente de discréditer le Hamas en larguant “des millions de flyers sur la bande de Gaza”. L’un de ces prospectus, reproduit sur le site, vise à recruter des collaborateurs palestiniens. Signé par le “commandement des forces de défense israéliennes” et adressé aux “résidents de la bande de Gaza”, il invite les Palestiniens à appeler ou à écrire un mail à l’armée israélienne pour l’aider à localiser “les sites d’où sont tirées les roquettes et où se trouvent les gangs terroristes qui vous tiennent en otage”. “Vous avez votre destin entre vos mains”, conclut le flyer.
Selon Laila El-Haddad, une journaliste palestinienne, les flyers ne sont pas les seuls outils de propagande utilisés par Israël. Dans son Journal d’une mère palestinienne, elle raconte comment l’Etat juif recourt à des “robo-calls”, des programmes d’appel automatisés, pour appeler les citoyens de Gaza “à toute heure du jour et de la nuit”. Elle retranscrit en guise d’exemple un de ces appels impromptus : “Message urgent : alerte à tous les citoyens de Gaza. Le Hamas vous utilise comme boucliers humains. Ne les écoutez pas. Le Hamas vous a abandonné et ses hommes se cachent dans leurs abris”.

Dans une autre note, cette mère de deux enfants se fait l’écho de témoignages d’habitants selon lesquels Israël utiliserait des bombes à sous-munitions, à l’uranium appauvri ainsi que du phosphore blanc, un agent incendiaire dont l’usage offensif est considéré comme un crime de guerre par l’ONU. Tsahal a reconnu en avoir utilisé lors de l’offensive au Liban en 2006.
“TERRIBLE ERREUR”
Akram Habeeb, professeur assistant de littérature américaine à l’Université islamique de Gaza, tente d’analyser sur Electronic Intifada l’objectif poursuivi par Israël qui n’a, affirme-t-il, “rien à voir avec une volonté d’isoler le Hamas”. Selon lui, les Israéliens “veulent que le chaos règne dans la bande de Gaza. Ils veulent éliminer tout système légal et judiciaire et les remplacer par la loi de la jungle qui prévalait avant que le Hamas ne prenne le pouvoir”, affirme-t-il.
Une note d’espoir dans cette blogosphère en état de siège : sur Gaza-Sderot, deux amis, l’un vivant dans un camp de réfugiés à Gaza et l’autre dans la ville israëlienne de Sderot, non loin de la frontière, continuent de communiquer. Dans un post intitulé “The day after the war”, l’ami israélien, qui entend de chez lui le son des bombes s’écrasant sur Gaza, explique en quoi cette offensive est, selon lui, une “terrible erreur”. “Depuis cinq mois, il y a eu un cessez-le-feu presque total. Mais au lieu de profiter de cette longue période de calme pour obtenir un accord sur le long terme, les deux parties ont passé leur temps à se préparer et à s’armer pour cette guerre. Aucun effort sérieux n’a été initié. Israël a poursuivi son siège de Gaza et le Hamas a continué son trafic d’armes.”

LA “CRISI” DI GAZA?

I telegiornali italiani (1 e 2) non parlano del massacro: parlano ormai della “crisi” di Gaza, spostando le notizie relative in seconda o terza posizione. “Porta a Porta” – il sismografo ufficioso della politica governativa italiana, gestito dal grande Ruffiano di Stato – finora non ha dedicato alla guerra nessuna puntata.

Intanto il massacro continua. Leggo, nel blog di Sameh: 920 morti, 4200 feriti. Circa 350 vittime sono bambini, e 160 sono donne. All’iniziativa congiunta di Sameh e del suo amico di Sderot il telegiornale di RAI 1 ha dedicato un breve servizio.

I razzi di Hamas continuano a colpire Israele, anche se con una frequenza molto inferiore: segno evidente di un indebolimento della capacità offensiva dei palestinesi in guerra. Ma il capo di Hamas, imperterrito, afferma, in un irresponsabile e delirante comunicato, che Israele verrà sconfitto, che la vittoria è vicina.

Se parliamo di monoteismo, usandolo come un termine con potente valenza simbolica e metaforica mi si schiudono delle possibilità interessanti – posto che per me l’approdo è oltre il relativismo, nel momento in cui la relativizzazione diviene una forma di tolleranza essa infatti diviene un assoluto. Ma questo è – forse altro discorso. Forse.
Se però pensiamo ai monoteismi strictu sensu, ci facciamo delle illusioni. Non credo che sia il caso di Mario, ma è un altro dei pareri che mi sono arrivati in questi giorni – dove qualcuno ha interpretato questo conflitto come battaglia di religione. Invece quello che io ho sentito come difficoltà in tutti i miei contatti con il mondo islamico – anche anteriori alla mia relazione di cui sopra parlavo – è proprio nelle differenti impostazioni mentali: in specie a proposito dell’orchestra di concetti – relativismo – rispetto – democrazia – convivenza politica. Ora è chiaro come ho detto sopra che non è che il mondo islamico (che è sterminato e varissimo!) sia tutto monocolore – ma esistono fette ampie di mondo islamico in cui questa orchestra di concetti è assolutamente estranea. Amici per esempio che mi prendevano in giro perchè io credevo che in Italia c’è la democrazia ma no non c’è. (Ma non nel tono e nei modi che intenderemmo noi, proprio con una solida incredulità un solido disprezzo e disinteresse per la rappresentanza politica e delle parti politiche diverse). Persone che in tutta franchezza dichiarano che non ritengono etico e necessario dover convivere con una cultura diversa in maniera paritaria. La religione è solo la sintassi di un vestito culturale. e non si può chiedere alle persone di spogliarsi astrattamente perchè noialtri da lontano lo chiediamo in virtù del fatto che a noi la guerra ci addolora. Le persone possono invece trovare in un nuovo abito misto terzo più variegato una nuova possibilità un nuovo interesse.
Senza giudicare con arroganza ecco, perchp il multculturalismo l’apertura possibilista è qualcosa di avvertito – soprattutto da parte del mondo arabo – come qualcosa di matrice europea.
Gli Israeliani da questo orecchio ci sentono di più. Nel caso simulano di non capire, ma sanno di che si parla.

2 weeks and still going
I wish to thank all those who have commented and supported our effort in sending out our message. It is impossible for us during this time to answer any specific questions; however we read everything and thank you for your contribution.

An additional note: We post 95% of the comments and try not to censor comments.
Some comments that use abusive language or that we feel will cause more misunderstanding than understanding are not posted. The purpose of the blog is to further understanding of our reality and not be a platform for debate and blame.

We are now 2 weeks into the war.
1 week since the ground incursion and Peace man and I have been in very little contact since the. He is out of electricity 99% of the time and cannot charge his cell phone. Added to that is the fact that reception of cell phones from Gaza is almost nil, he has to be in a high and exposed place to talk. This endangers him so we have had very little contact.

It is a horrifying reality. Clearly the situation in Gaza is much worse than what we are experiencing, however I will share what we are going through so the complexity and absurdity can be understood.
On the Israeli side 1 million people are in the range of the rockets from Gaza. Many people have fled to safer areas in Israel. Most rockets are hitting in open areas, however some have injured civilians and lot’s of damage has been caused to homes and buildings. People are in constant fear and alert.
The war has created chaos in most of the southern part of Israel. No school or university studies, people are not allowed to crowd which means no weddings and other gatherings are not allowed, many businesses are closed and people have not been to work for 2 weeks.
I have personally spent most of the time in Sderot however my wife and kids have been out of the area for the whole time. Today we are all together again at home. The rockets are still hitting, however it feels good to be back home even in face of danger. We have been in this reality for 8 years so for us it seems amazingly normal.
Today has been a rather quiet day in Sderot, Only rocket alerts, no one hurt and no damage.

It feels rather normal however as I type, I can clearly hear the sounds of war. Blasts and planes, shooting and helicopters. A horrible war so close across the border.
I am horrified by the number of civilian casualties in Gaza. The civilians are to suffer once again from the brutality and incompetence of their leaders and this time the result is worse than ever.

For 4.5 months from June to November 2008 we had a cease fire. Only a very small amount of hostile actions from both sides were occurring. Our life was back to a very quiet and normal reality. The main problem was that for the Gazen civilians, the cease fire did not create any hope since there was an ongoing siege on Gaza.
Both sides were blaming each other. Israel claming that the Hamas is not abiding to the ceasefire since there were occasional rockets and the arms smuggling continued, and Hamas claiming that Israel is not fulfilling its part since the siege continued.
This war has broken out for the simple reason that neither side was willing to make a serious effort to avoid it. Both sides were sharpening their swords waiting for the next horrible round.
Was there no other option? Of course there was!
Both sides state that on the other side there is no partner to talk to. However the initial cease fire was achieved by talks. Indirect talks but that is only a technicality.
We all know that sometime (hopefully very soon) there will be some kind of agreement and both sides will talk. We all know that this agreement will not disarm either side and remove the treat of future hostilities. However it will be reached. Why then did so many civilians have to pay such an appalling price for the stupidity and incompetence of our leaders? I am both furious, heartbroken to see how our region has fallen so deep into this tragedy which could have been avoided in the first place.

More bombings are heard from my home across the border, deepening the pain, suffering and hatred.

Once this is over there will be so much work to be done to build any kind of hopeful future. We keep this dialog going to make it just a bit easier when it ends.
